Ks. Supreme Ct. reviewing school finance

The Ks. Supreme Ct. is working to determine whether the new school finance law satisfies the Kansas Constitutional requirement that the state provide adequate school funding. The law would increase statewide funds $187 million next school year and $98 million the following year. This is compared to the trial court cost studies which named $772 million for the first year and $51 million for the second year and the State BOE which named $566 million for the first year and $327 million for the second year as the funds needed to adequately fund education.
