As I've spoken with people, there is some confusion regarding how USD #259 School Board elections work. There are 7 seats on the Wichita School Board. 6 of the seats serve areas of the city (Districts); 1 seat serves "at large". School Board terms are 4 years and 4 of the 6 seats have terms that are ending this year. At the General Election on November 7th, every person registered to vote in the City of Wichita votes for all of the open seats. If there had been a primary election which occurs if there are more than three people running, the primary election is held only in the District served. And yes, it is truly public service because board members do NOT receive a salary.
